Sometimes, I like to reflect on what “us programmers” would like to achieve in life. Without exception, I completely fail in doing so and discover that I’m pretty much stuck in my vertical ways.
I find it hard to let go of my perceptions of how a programmer should achieve technological nirvana. Luckily, The Codeless Code has a way of bringing the metaphysical properties of our being into words. It comes down to this simple question: do you want to excel in a single field, or perform adequately in many? And the follow-up bonus round questions: what will you be able to achieve with your knowledge and experience? Can you sow the right seeds and reap the rewards?
One day, we will have solved this pesky problem before we all inevitably turn into IT managers and legacy code maintainers.
